Fresh Notch is made by IAMSULTAN LLC, a company in the United Arab Emirates (“we”). This page covers the Fresh Notch app and this website. The short version: the app reads your Mac’s health on your Mac and keeps it there. The only thing it sends anywhere is a licence check.
The app
Fresh Notch reads uptime, memory pressure, swap, per-app memory, free disk space and whether a macOS update is waiting, using what macOS already reports. All of this stays on your Mac. The restart history and settings are saved in your user account’s Library folder. We have no servers that receive any of it, and the app has no analytics or crash reporting.
When you activate a licence key, and about once a week after that, the app sends a licence check to Polar (see “Payments and licences” below) with:
- your licence key,
- your Mac’s name, as set in System Settings › General › Sharing, so you can tell your Macs apart in your account,
- an anonymous ID for the Mac: a one-way hash of its hardware ID, so the hardware ID itself never leaves the Mac.
Nothing else is sent: no health readings, no app names, no usage.
Payments and licences
Purchases go through Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), our merchant of record. Polar collects your name, email, billing address and payment details to process the payment, calculate tax, send your receipt and licence key, and run your account page. We receive your name, email, country and order details from Polar so we can support you. Polar’s handling of your data is covered by Polar’s privacy policy.
This website
freshnotch.com runs on our own server, with Cloudflare in front of it. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, our server and Cloudflare process your IP address and basic request details to deliver the page and protect it from abuse.
If you write to [email protected], we keep your messages to answer you and to handle any refund or licence question. We don’t add you to any mailing list.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at [email protected]. Records Polar must keep for tax and accounting stay with Polar. To stop the licence check, remove the licence from the Mac in Settings › Licence or delete the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above. If the app ever starts sending anything new, we’ll say so here and in the app’s release notes first.
